5 TIPS TO GET YOU SWEATING & SMILING!

FIND A WORKOUT YOU ENJOY.

I cannot emphasize this enough. Half the battle with working out is actually showing up so if you are dreading doing Dolly’s Death by Burpees 90 minute class ditch that, and find something you actually enjoy! Luckily the fitness industry is booming and there are so many options to choose from. Whether it be at your local gym, yoga studio, an online workout you can literally get your sweat on whenever & wherever. Shop around, ask friends, google, but find something that brings you joy and make it a habit!

SET A GOAL

You might think as a fitness professional I am constantly motivated to get to the gym, hit that 12.5 sprint, and hold a headstand for 5 minutes. I wish, but sadly I need to motivate myself as much as the next person. This is where goal setting comes in. Goal setting theory of motivation states that carefully outlined goals, which can be measured and set within specific time frames are more effective. I recommend setting a weekly goal, a monthly goal, and a yearly goal. For example, I will go to 7am yoga everyday this week. Or I will complete a perfect pushup by the end of the year. The secret is, these teeny tiny accomplishments are what truly CHANGES YOUR LIFE and makes you a healthier & happier human! And isn’t that what its about at the end of the day?!

FIND A TIME IN THE DAY THAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU

A lot of my clients ask me what is the ideal time to workout? Or I want to be a morning workout person. With this one, I think being honest with yourself is super helpful. I have some clients that feel like they are going to vomit if they work out in the morning and others that feel they will fall asleep if they lay down on a yoga mat after 6pm. Taking an honest look at your current situation -  career, partner, children, pets whatever it is that needs your love and attention and enables you to put food on the table need to be taken into consideration. Then from there you schedule that time for YOU to workout and strengthen your body & mind. Because if you don’t do that you won’t be able to show up for all those amazing things mentioned above. For example, I love working out in the afternoon. Im awake by then, and give myself the energy I need to tackle the second half of my day of classes and clients. I know not everyone has the luxury to workout at 2pm but I think most of us know if we are morning or evening people so plan accordingly!

SCHEDULE YOUR WORKOUTS FOR THE WEEK

Just like you might meal prep for the week on Sunday night, take that time to pencil your workouts in for the week! As the saying goes, a Sunday well spent brings a week of content! Then hold yourself accountable. Luckily a lot of fitness studios charge if you cancel late so you don’t want to be wasting those precious $ on a workout you didn’t even do!

WORKOUT WITH A FRIEND

I don’t know about you but I find myself so busy my social life takes a major hit. I work long hours and sometimes the thought of putting on “real clothes” and meeting a girl friend for a glass of wine makes me go ZZZZ…. If you are nodding your head an emphatic YES try to plan workout dates! I’ll text one of my girls - hey babe I’m taking yoga Friday 9am wanna come? Boom, there is a sweat sess and a social sess all rolled into one. Its enough time to catch up on life and get that endorphin rush too!

All of the above have helped me so much and I hope it helps get you sweating & smiling too! always feel free to contact me with questions!
